Admissions

The Admissions Process

The most important step is to call the admissions hotline 888-917-3422. The hotline staff's responsibility is to walk you through the necessary steps between the initial phone call and admissions orientation at Summit.

Please confirm that the client is willing to be admitted (e.g. after an intervention or from the hospital, etc).

Minimal stay is typically 45 days. A stay of 60-90 days is not unusual and is often needed for meaningful, lasting benefit. Decisions regarding length of stay are made on a case by case basis, as carefully reviewed weekly by the treatment team, in discussion with the client and involved family.

Inclusion and Exclusion Criteria

Photo: Clients Studying. Inclusion Criteria:

18 years of age or older, male or female, reasonably willing and able to participate in intensive treatment. Safe from significant risk of harm to self or others.

Exclusion Criteria:

Appropriate interim arrangements will need to be made in the following circumstances:

Once these are stabilized, direct transfer can be arranged to Summit for continuation of care.

High Risk Detox:

Certain high risk detox situations are more appropriately treated in a hospital setting. These include typically higher risk alcohol, high dose benzodiazepine use (e.g. Xanax, Valium), and high dose methadone. High risk alcohol detoxification (typically with large amounts of alcohol regularly, together with certain risk factors, such as serious physical health problems, history of seizures) and sedative hypnotic detoxification (long term high dose Xanax, Valium, Ativan). In these cases, treatment begins with the hospital detox arranged through Summit Lodge, followed by direct transfer to Summit Lodge for continuation of treatment.

Payment and Cost of Treatment

Payment is required prior to admission. Arrangements can be discussed with the hotline staff.

Contact our staff at 888-917-3422 for current rates. First 30 days' fee is due upon admission. Subsequent fees based on projected length of stay are due on day 21 and are prorated from the admission fee. Fees cover all routine care, room and board, ground transportation. Please refer to the detailed payment contract for specific information and items and services covered and not covered.

The office can, if requested by the client, assist in efforts to apply for insurance reimbursement. The initial fee is still due on admission. (Most insurers currently do not cover services related to residential treatment aside from medication and some labs.)

Hospital detox, if needed, is billed separately through that unit. Hospital detox and post-residential outpatient counseling are typically covered by insurances.

We do offer financing options through a low-interest loan from Clark Behavioral Finance.

Employers, family and friends are at times willing and able to cover the costs. Consider consulting your local church leader. They are typically authorized to evaluate and offer financial assistance for this level of drug treatment, when appropriate.

As you compare Summit Lodge with other programs you will see that our cost is relatively low, especially given the quality of the program and the site!

Please also keep in mind that most of us with addictions undergo extensive current and future losses. If we are honest we'll see that we can't afford not to get successful treatment.

Transportation Arrangements

Either Summit Lodge transportation staff, or a reliable family member, will bring the client to the Lodge. It is discouraged that the client come alone in a vehicle. Vehicles cannot be left on Lodge property (local storage is available if needed).

How do I get there? 90 miles SE from Salt Lake international airport. The driveway is right off of mountain hwy 31, which is a major mining road, therefore it is always plowed in the winter. Please drive carefully through the canyon highways, and watch for wildlife!

County Address: 11800 East 25500 North Fairview, Utah 84629

(Note, not all GPS systems are reliable once on a rural route.) Highway 89 to Fairview. Then eastward on Highway 31 (Fairview Canyon Road). At about 1.5 miles from Highway 89 watch for the Summit Lodge entrance sign on the right. See our map on the Contact Page.

What Should I Expect When I Arrive?

Park in 'visitor parking' and check in at the office. Office staff will welcome you and your family.

The client will undergo a search of themselves, their clothing and their luggage. The family may be asked to stay briefly to help complete some paperwork and complete any payment issues, depending on the clinical situation.

If family is present, they may be given a tour of the facility, or may be asked to say quick goodbyes and be on their way. Client will then meet various other staff and other clients (we call our clients residents). Family will receive information regarding family program, telephone contacts, client contact code, etc.

With the help of new client's "resident buddy", he or she will then be given a tour of the facility, introduced to other staff and residents, and will be given the handbook and reading materials, with basic review of the schedule and Summit rules. Medical staff is contacted and medical admission orders, including appropriate initial medications, and other care issues are documented.
